Blackheart is a demon, the son of Mephistopheles, and the reason the Devil needs a new Ghost Rider. Wes Bentley plays him in Ghost Rider. He comes to Earth looking for the contract of San Venganza, a binding note of a thousand evil souls that his father’s previous Rider refused to hand over, and he means to use it to unleash Hell on Earth and overthrow the father who is hunting him for it. Three fallen angels bonded to air, earth and water, the Hidden, do his work for him until Johnny burns through them one at a time.

He kills Johnny’s friend Mack and takes Roxanne hostage, and Johnny brings him the contract. Blackheart absorbs the thousand souls, calls himself Legion, and has Johnny beaten at sunrise, when the Rider goes out. Roxanne separates them with a shotgun. Johnny shoots him, then turns the Penance Stare on him, which burns every corrupt soul inside him at once and leaves him catatonic. Mephistopheles disappears with the body.
