Hector Ayala is the best argument Daredevil: Born Again makes. He is a vigilante whose powers come from the mystical Amulet of Power, and the series uses him for a courtroom rather than a rooftop: he is accused of assaulting and killing an undercover officer named Shanahan, and Matt Murdock takes the case.
With new testimony and police records of what Ayala had actually been doing, Murdock and Kirsten McDuffie get him found innocent on every count. The series then does the thing that makes it worth watching.

He is murdered while on patrol, by Cole North, the officer whose case fell apart. His niece Angela del Toro takes up the mantle afterwards.
Kamar de los Reyes died in December 2023, before the series aired. This is his last performance.
