Shadowcat

Kitty PrydeX-MenEarth-10005

A student who can walk through walls, and who ends up holding the entire plot of the biggest film in the series in her hands.

Kitty Pryde walks through two doors in the first two films and says almost nothing. By The Last Stand she is a character, and by Days of Future Past she is the mechanism the entire film runs on: her power has quietly expanded to include sending a person’s mind back into their younger self, and she spends the future half of the film with her hands on Logan’s head, keeping him there.

The series never quite decided what she was, which is why three actors play her and only one of them gets to do anything. Elliot Page is the one people mean.

Show detailsThe power that changed

Chronoskimming is not a comics power of Kitty Pryde’s. It was written for Days of Future Past because the film needed somebody to perform it, and the comics story it adapts uses her differently. It is the clearest case in the Fox films of a character being reshaped to fit a plot.

In the Rogue Cut of that film, Wolverine stabs her while under Mystique’s influence and the team recovers Rogue to take her place.
