The engineer half of a pair who finish each other's sentences, and who spends seven years being taken apart and put back together.
Leopold James Fitz joins Coulson’s team as an engineering and weapons technology specialist and provides the technical support through the first season. He is close to Agent Simmons, having graduated from the S.H.I.E.L.D. academy with her. Iain De Caestecker plays him.

At the end of the first season Ward drops the two of them into the sea in a sealed pod. Fitz gives Simmons the only oxygen, confesses how he feels, and is left with a brain injury that the series does not undo. What follows is one of the very few long-term consequences in this entire catalogue that stays.
