Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson lost everything on the same night for different reasons, and the series is about the two of them circling each other across a city that has kept them apart by design. Her power is light and his is darkness, which sounds schematic and plays as something much quieter: she can see what people hope for, he can see what they fear.
