A brother and a sister with a monstrous parent hunt the worst of humanity, in a series that spent its release insisting it was not part of anything.
Daimon and Ana Helstrom are the children of a serial killer, and the series is a horror show about inheritance that runs for ten episodes and stops. It was cancelled after one season.
It is here for completeness, and because it is the clearest possible example of why this catalogue keeps the Marvel Television era at the fullest depth rather than folding it into the main run.
Show detailsNot tied to anything, by its own account
It was announced as the first series of an Adventure into Fear franchise that would exist inside the continuity of Marvel Television’s other shows but would not cross over with them or with the films.
On release the showrunner went further, describing the series as “siloed off”, “not tied to the MCU”, “our own separate thing”, and calling it freeing to have “just this little pocket of the universe”. By July 2020 Disney had dropped the Marvel name from the title. A reviewer noted that beyond a single reference to an oil company that appears everywhere in this material, it has essentially no connection to anything else.
Very little in this catalogue has to be argued into a category. This one argued itself out of one.
