People are dying in a Louisiana swamp, and the thing killing them is a legend that has taken a body and burns anyone who is afraid of it.
A sheriff investigates a series of deaths on drained oil land and finds a Seminole legend walking. The Man-Thing is not a villain in the ordinary sense. It is a swamp with intent, and its defining property, that its touch burns whoever feels fear, is one of the better ideas in this material.
It is loosely based on the comic and plays as a monster film rather than a superhero one.
