America Chavez is a teenager from the Utopian Parallel who can travel between dimensions in the multiverse by punching star shaped doorways open. After crossing the multiverse with Stephen Strange and helping to break the Darkhold’s hold on Wanda Maximoff, she stays on Earth-616 and studies the mystic arts at Kamar-Taj under Wong.
Her power is written as a panic response: it fires when she is frightened, it takes her somewhere at random, and she cannot get back. The film is chasing a child who has lost her parents and cannot stop running.
