A woman who can copy any fighting style she has watched, and who was made that way by her own father.
Taskmaster is a good idea executed as an argument. She fights by watching, and what she has watched is these films: Captain America’s shield work, Black Panther’s stance, Hawkeye’s draw. Fighting her means fighting the series.
Underneath is Antonia Dreykov, the daughter of the man who ran the Red Room, kept alive and controlled by him after an explosion Natasha Romanoff set. The film’s whole moral position rests on her: Natasha did not know the child was in the building, and the film refuses to let that be enough.
Minor spoiler
She reappears as one of Valentina’s contractors, sent to kill John Walker, and is shot dead by Ava Starr in the opening sequence. It is a very abrupt end for a character the previous film had spent its running time on.
