A hotel valet whose best friend turned out to have a past, and who went along anyway.
Katy Chen parks cars at a San Francisco hotel with her best friend, who turns out to be Shang-Chi, the son of the man who runs the Ten Rings. She did not know. Awkwafina plays her, and the film gives her the job the audience has: asking the obvious questions while everyone else behaves as if this is normal.
She goes with him to find his sister Xialing, is captured with both of them by their father Wenwu, and escapes to the hidden village of Ta Lo with Trevor Slattery in tow. In the battle there she helps defend the village against the Dweller-in-Darkness by putting an arrow into a weak spot in its armour, which nobody expected of her, including her.
Minor spoiler
The mid-credits scene has Wong summon her and Shang-Chi to Kamar-Taj, where Bruce Banner and Carol Danvers, by hologram, work out that the rings are sending a signal somewhere. Wong promises to keep looking. Shang-Chi suggests a bar, and the three of them sing karaoke.
