A man with unbreakable skin who wants a quiet job in Harlem and finds out that being the only person who cannot be shot is itself a job.
Luke Cage is the least tormented protagonist in this part of the catalogue. He does not want a mission and he does not brood; he wants work and a street that is left alone. His series knows this and spends its time on the barbershop, the club and the politics of the block rather than on the powers.
Mike Colter plays him quiet, which makes the size of him do the work. The show was also, at the time, a rare thing on this shelf: a Marvel series about a neighbourhood rather than about a city skyline.
