Luke Cage is the least conflicted protagonist in this part of the catalogue. He does not want a mission and he is not tormented; he wants a quiet job and a neighbourhood that is left alone. The season is about how impossible that is when you are the only person on the street who cannot be shot.

Harlem is the other lead. The show gives more time to the barbershop, the club and the politics of the block than to anyone’s powers, and it is better for it.
