Shang-Chi's sister, who escaped their father's organisation and built a fight club of her own in Macau.
Xu Xialing is Shang-Chi’s sister. After escaping the Ten Rings she set up an underground fight club in Macau called the Golden Daggers Club, whose regulars include Wong, the Abomination, a Black Widow called Helen and a soldier enhanced with Extremis, which is one of the film’s quieter ways of saying that this story sits inside the larger one. Meng’er Zhang plays her.
The Ten Rings raid the club for her pendant, and their father Wenwu takes her, Shang-Chi and Katy back to his compound. She escapes with them, with Trevor Slattery and with Morris the hundun, and reaches Ta Lo, where she helps defend the village against the Ten Rings and then the Dweller-in-Darkness.
Minor spoiler
After Wenwu’s death, Shang-Chi advises her to disband the Ten Rings. The last scene shows that she has instead taken it over, and restructured it to include women among its fighters. Her brother does not know.
Show detailsSources in the comics, and a variant
Wikipedia records that she is partly inspired by three comics characters, Sasha Hammer, Zheng Bao Yu and Sister Dagger, rather than adapted from one. An alternate version of her appears in the animated What If…? as the Hood, which this catalogue does not count for live-action characters.
