Blade II

A new kind of vampire is eating the old kind, and the hunter has to work with the people he has spent his life killing.

Guillermo del Toro directs, and it shows in the first minute. The Reapers are a mutation that feeds on vampires as readily as on people, which forces the vampire nation to hire the man who has been exterminating them, and the film treats that alliance as a practical arrangement between professionals rather than as a moral turn.

It is the entry in this trilogy that most resembles a creature feature. The design work is genuinely unpleasant in the way good horror design is, and the film is far more interested in what the Reapers are than in what Blade feels.
