A dying mercenary takes a cure that works, disfigures him, and makes him extremely difficult to kill.

It exists because test footage escaped online and the reaction forced a decision that had been refused for years. That history is worth knowing, because the film’s whole register, cheap, rude and aware of itself, is what the studio had been saying would not sell.

It talks to the audience constantly, which is either the point or the problem depending on the viewer. Underneath it is a straightforward revenge story about a man who cannot go home.
