A doctor with a rare blood disease cures himself using something he should not have used, and comes out of it a living vampire.
Michael Morbius has spent his life trying to fix the condition he was born with, and the fix works. He is stronger, faster and no longer dying, and he now needs blood. His surrogate brother Milo, who has the same disease, takes the same cure and reaches a very different conclusion about what to do with it.
The film is the third in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and the one that most clearly exposes the problem with that project: a studio building a shared world around the supporting cast of a character it cannot use directly.

The character had been considered for film twice before. He was to appear as an antagonist in the Blade series, and a solo film was developed at Artisan Entertainment. Neither happened, which makes this his first appearance in a cinema after roughly twenty-five years of being nearly adapted.
