Harry Osborn

Harry OsbornSpider-ManEarth-96283

The son of the man Spider-Man killed, and the best friend of the man who is Spider-Man, who spends three films not knowing they are the same problem.

Harry is the trilogy’s slowest fuse and its best structural idea. He is Peter’s friend, Norman’s disappointment, and eventually the person holding the same equipment his father used. James Franco plays the resentment as something that was there long before the mask.

The third film has to carry too much, but the part it gets right is this one: the reconciliation happens too late and costs too much, which is how the character was always going to end.
