Two years in, the job has cost him his studies, his friendships and the person he wanted, and he is considering stopping.
The film’s subject is exhaustion. He is broke, late for everything, and losing the powers precisely when he stops wanting them, which the film treats as a psychological event rather than a plot device.
Its antagonist is a decent man ruined by his own work and mourned by the film, and the train sequence remains the best action scene any of these films has staged.
