An astrophysicist who found a man falling out of the sky, and who eleven years later picked up his hammer.
Jane Foster is an astrophysicist, played by Natalie Portman, and she appears in Thor, Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Love and Thunder, where she becomes the Mighty Thor.
The first two films use her as the reason Thor cares about Earth, which is a thin job for a good actor, and Wikipedia is blunt that the reception of those two was mixed. Love and Thunder gives her the story from the comics instead: Mjolnir reassembles itself for her while she is having chemotherapy, and every time she lifts it she undoes the treatment. That version was much better received, and is often named as the best thing in the film.
