Rio Morales is Miles’s Puerto Rican mother, a nurse. Lauren Vélez voices her, and she also voices an alternate version of Rio from Earth-42.
Across the Spider-Verse gives her the line the whole film turns on, delivered on a fire escape before anything has gone wrong: she tells her son to take care of the boy she raised wherever he goes, and to make sure he never forgets where he came from. Everything Miles does afterwards is an answer to it.
