A Brooklyn teenager becomes his world's Spider-Man on the worst possible week, and then five more of them fall out of the sky.
Miles Morales is bitten, his world’s Spider-Man dies in front of him, and the Kingpin’s collider pulls in versions of the character from other universes who are all in some way worse at this than they used to be. The film’s structure is a mentor story where the mentor is a burnt-out failure from a parallel world.
It is also the point at which mainstream animation changed. The film runs several frame rates at once, prints comic halftone into the image, and lets its own line work be visible, and almost everything animated since has been answering it.
