Miles finds out there is an organisation of Spider-People, that it has rules, and that the rules require his father to die.
The sequel builds a bureaucracy out of the multiverse. Miguel O’Hara runs the Spider-Society, which polices canon events, moments that must happen in every Spider-Man’s life for their world to hold together. One of Miles’ is his father’s death, and he refuses.
It is a chase film in which the person being chased is right, and it ends without resolving, which was announced and still landed hard.

That is a visit rather than a merger: reference works list the Sony live-action films as their own six-film series and file these animated ones as a separate one, which is why this catalogue gives them their own franchise.
