An investigative journalist who lost his job, his fiancee and his flat in one week, and then acquired a flatmate who lives inside him.
Eddie Brock is a bad journalist and a worse boyfriend, and the films are cheerfully clear about both. What makes him work is that he is not corrupted by what happens to him. He was already like this. The symbiote just gives him somebody to argue with out loud.
The trilogy is a relationship story with a body-horror premise, and the second film is the one that admits it. Everything good about the run comes from the fact that two performances are coming out of one actor.
