A warrior whose family was killed by someone working for Thanos, and who understands every sentence exactly as it is spoken.
Drax is the one running joke in these films that is also a character. He takes everything literally, which starts as a gag about metaphor and turns into something else once you notice he is the only member of the group who says what he means at all times.
His family were killed by Ronan on Thanos’s orders. He introduces himself with this, in full, to strangers. Dave Bautista plays him with a stillness that makes the loud parts land, and the friendship with Mantis in the second film is the best thing either character gets.
