A country grieves a king it cannot replace, while a nation under the sea decides it is a threat.
The lead actor died between films and the story was rebuilt around that. What could have been an evasion is instead the subject: two and a half hours about people failing to grieve properly and making bad decisions because of it.
It is longer and heavier than its predecessor, and its antagonist is a leader protecting his own hidden nation, which makes the conflict a mirror rather than an opposition.
