Thor: Ragnarok

Thor loses his hammer, his home and his hair, and finds out his family history is worse than he was told.

A hard tonal reset. The previous two Thor films were solemn, and this one is a comedy with a real loss at the centre of it, which turns out to suit the character far better.

Underneath the jokes it does serious structural work: it clears away almost everything Thor had, so that the next film can start him from nothing.
